June News Round-up: Good month for the Defence Industry

Some significant announcements came from the defence industry during the month of June, putting a shine on an industry that has taken a beating in the face of defence cuts.

The latest news saw the Terrier vehicle successfully delivered on time to the British Army. Although the delivery signified the exodus of BAE Systems from Scotswood Road as part of efforts to consolidate operations in the UK, there was better news with regards to UK defence exports, as a recent Government report highlighted exports were the largest in 5 years.

According to a recent UK Government report, British defence exports rose by 62% in 2012 – the largest increase for 5 years.

Renown Supports Terrier Vehicle Delivery

The British Army has announced it has received delivery of the Terrier vehicle. Built out of BAE Systems’ Scotswood Road facility in Newcastle, 60 vehicles have been delivered, each equipped with components manufactured by Renown Engineering Ltd.
